Agent Cooper and others discover a spirit world consisting of Black and White Lodges adjoining a Red Waiting Room of curtained corridors which serve as entrances to either Lodge, and is accessed through meditation which reveals an extra-dimensional portal that only opens during an astrological conjunction. (TP) Barnabas Collins and others discover an extra-dimensional gateway to a featureless corridor containing a door which leads to other places in time, that can be accessed by meditating and using I Ching wands to randomly draw the 49th hexagram. (DS)
In both stories characters become trapped in the worlds in which they travel. In Twin Peaks, the door to the Black and White Lodges opens during a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn on Easter Sunday. In Roman mythology, Jupiter is the son of Saturn. Twin Peaks as the Passion of the Antichrist culminates with Bob (Lucifer) and The Arm (the primordial Antichrist) conjoining to possess Agent Cooper, in mockery of the conjunction of the Father and the Son of the Holy Trinity of Christian mythology.
