Lost Loves

Agent Cooper, grieving over the death of his love Caroline Earle, falls in love with Annie Blackburn. In the Red/Waiting Room, Cooper confuses Annie for Caroline and vice versa, and both women are depicted as doppelgängers in certain scenes. (TP)
Barnabas Collins, grieving over the death of his love Josette Dupres, falls in love with Maggie Evans. He brainwashes Maggie into believing she is Josette, and later it is revealed that Maggie and her previous incarnations are in reality reincarnations of Josette. (DS) Caroline and Josette both die grisly deaths which their lovers are unable to prevent thus haunting them as failures.
