Count Jacoby and Doctor Petofi

Doctor Jacoby (TP) and Count Petofi (DS) are eccentric mentalists who have similar styles and similar sounding last names. Jacoby is a psychiatrist while Petofi is a warlock. Jacoby usually dresses in Hawaiian shirts like surfers classically wear, which may be seen as a reference to the crashing surf in the introductory titles to Dark Shadows. In Jacoby's final appearance in the show he wears a dark cape and hat similar to what Petofi and other Warlocks wear in Dark Shadows. When Jacoby talks to Agent Cooper after Laura Palmer's funeral, he is wearing an overcoat that is nearly identical to that which Barnabas Collins wears throughout Dark Shadows. Russ Tamblyn, who played Doctor Jacoby on Twin Peaks, played Norman Page in the original 1957 film adaptation of Grace Metalious' Peyton Place novel.
