The people of Twin Peaks are victimized and indoctrinated by evil shape-shifting owl incubi from a dimension called the Black Lodge, navigated in India by a black robed bloodthirsty cult known as the Dugpa. Windom Earle kidnaps Annie Blackburn away to the Black Lodge which Agent Cooper enters to save her by sacrificing his soul to the lead incubus Bob, who represents Lucifer. A strange odor of and a substance like burned engine oil accompanies moments when an incubus from the Black Lodge is terrorizing their victim, and they are capable of killing by inducing heart attacks from fright, in addition to taking control of their victims' hands. Agent Cooper learns that several citizens of Twin Peaks have mysterious stylized owl and mountain shaped birthmarks which are similar to petroglyphs in Owl Cave that accompany a petroglyph map that determines the time of a conjunction in which the entrance to the Black Lodge opens. The Black Lodge's calling card is a golden ring set with a green stone which bears its insignia, that its victims sometime wear. Cooper dreams of the Red Waiting Room which enters into the Black/White Lodges, and waits there for twenty-five years before Laura Palmer, or the cousin of Laura who feels like she knows her but sometimes her arms bend back, kisses him and whispers in his ear that her father killed her. In his dream, Cooper also learns from the One-Armed Man that he and Bob lived above a mysterious convenience store at some point. Leland Palmer began being possessed by Bob when he was a boy, and is forced to murder his daughter Laura because she would not give up her soul to the Black Lodge. Leland goes insane and becomes completely possessed by Bob almost up to the moment of his death, and commits suicide by ramming his head into the door of an interrogation room in which he is being imprisoned. After gaining Leland's soul, Bob still wants Laura's soul which she would not relinquish to him in life, and the Arm of the Red Waiting Room, who is possessed by Bob and represents the aborted incestuous fetus of Laura and Leland incubated in the womb of Lilith and fathered by Bob to create the Antichrist, uses the phrase regarding the Owl Cave ring "with this ring I thee wed" as if to imply that an unholy marriage is underway. Entering into the Red Waiting Room on his way to rescuing Annie in the Black Lodge, Cooper learns from the Giant who visited him in his waking visions that he and the Bellhop that works at the Great Northern are in fact "one and the same." Cooper's unseen secretary whom he frequently dictates to is named Diane. In Roman mythology, "Diana" means heavenly or divine, and was the goddess of the hunt and moon and birthing, and was associated with wild animals and woodland, and had the power to talk to and control animals.
The convenience store above which the evil incubi Bob and Mike (Philip Gerard) the One-Armed Man once lived can be interpreted at Earth with it's worldly goods, above which is Heaven from whence Lucifer and his angels fell.
Fire Walk With Me, the prequel/sequel to the Twin Peaks series, is also the Genesis/Revelation of the series. As Genesis it depicts the visible incarnation of Lil aka Lilith the primordial Eve and mate of Bob who represents Lucifer. Lil as is discussed in another post is an unseen presence throughout the series. Featured visibly to Cooper in his parallel dreamself in the Deer Meadow dream sequence, she appears in her host body Laura, in a dream sequence (revealed by the backwards drifting of the Packard Sawmill's smokestack) in which through Twin Peaks' Revelation the conception of the Antichrist is depicted. Lil as Laura (Lilith) witnesses her mate Bob as Bobby Briggs (Lucifer) shoot Mike as Deputy Cliff Howard (the wicked spirit of Man in the Old Testament), then in helping Bobby bury him plants a tiny pinecone on his dead body, in reference to how in the mythological Lucifers final attempt at the destruction of God's creation culminates in the conception of the Antichrist, a host body for Lucifer himself as represented by the pine trees in which Owls reside. In the pilot episode to Twin Peaks which immediately follows Laura's death in Fire Walk With Me, we are shown the fall of man of Genesis as represented by another dream, this time obviously shown to be experienced by Agent Cooper. Bob (Lucifer) is in the basement of Calhoun Memorial Hospital and is shot (but not killed) by Mike (the wicked spirit of Man in the Old Testament), who immediately feels the pain of plucking his arm which offended him. Lil (Lilith) is the wind (Lil means "air" or "wind") that blows out the birthday candles numbered to represent the birthday which Laura began her Secret Diary, encircling a mound of dirt and Laura's half of her heart necklace as found at the "murder" site. Cooper says "make a wish" in reference to the birthday candles blown out, but also in reference to the unborn incestuous fetus which Lil and Bob parent that wishes to be born in the form of Cooper, a wish that is granted when Cooper emerges from the Black Lodge as the Antichrist in the final scene of the series.
As I have stated in other posts, Fire Walk With Me is a reference to Laura's walking death over the course of the last week of her life due to the botched illegal abortion of her incestuous baby which will become the Antichrist. In this respect, the Fire that walks with Laura is the threat of Hellfire itself.
