It's Alive!
Doctor Eric Lang creates Adam, a burly Frankenstein style monster with the brain of a criminal, who over time evolves from a childish brute to a rational thinking man over the course of a violent rampage. He is afraid of fire. (DS) Leo Johnson is a burly criminal who is critically wounded by a gunshot from Hank Jennings and succumbs to a coma. When he comes out of the coma he is reduced to the mentality of a childish brute and reembarks on a violent rampage. He is afraid of electric shocks. He is twice referred to as "Franken-Leo" and "Leo- Stein" by his rival in love, Bobby Briggs. (TP) Laura Palmer's dialogue "Leo no!" and "Leo, you're hurting me!" which is repeated by Waldo the Myna bird is reminiscent of the little girl's dialogue "No! You're hurting me! No!" from the 1931 film adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein novel. Incidentally, Leo is married to a woman named Shelly Johnson.
